Reason 1: Being a Copycat
You might had copied a resume format as it is from your friend. But your friend could had done the same thing by copying from another friend and so on... At the end your resume will look very similar to several other resumes from your batch and may not carry anything unique. You should realize that you are the best person to know your strengths are and what to project in your resume. Hence you need to create a unique format which needs to speak about your strengths so that the most important points come on top.
Reason 2: Area of Strength Could Be Your Weakness
There are some familiar subjects like computer networks and operating systems which are used by many youngsters as areas of strength. Though you might be genuinely interested in the subjects, nine out of ten candidates have these subjects just for the reason that any question from these subjects is a lot easier than other subjects. Almost all interviewers know this and would had come prepared with toughest of the tough questions from these subjects. This can potentially convert your area of interest into an area of weakness.
Reason 3: Using Decorative Passages in Resumes
Most of the resumes would have a two line ambition saying the same thing over and over again. This could run like this "Wholeheartedly I am committed to serve to the fullest at your esteemed organization .....blah blah". Believe me, most interviewers don't really care to read these two lines and making them decorative is not going to gain any advantage. Instead be practical while writing resumes and keep this opening passage as simple as possible.
