Using improper English during a job interview will cause you not to get the job. If you are giving a speech, using improper English will make your audience think you're unintelligent. If you submit a written proposal to your superiors, and it is written with improper English, it may very likely be rejected. As you can see, failure is not an option.

Common English mistakes that can destroy your chances of career advancement. The first of these mistakes is pronouncing words incorrectly. While this mistake may sound easy to avoid, it is one of the most common mistakes that people make. To become a master at English, it is not enough for you to know a word, or understand its definition. One of the best ways to correct this issue is to break the word down into its syllables, and pronounce it accordingly.

The Use of Slang Terms
One of the biggest English mistakes you can make is using slang words. Those who use these words are often seen as being unintelligent.

Many people try to sound sophisticated by speaking with complex sentences. This can be extremely risky.

With English, you can be simple, but sophisticated at the same time. Being sophisticated with English does not automatically mean you should use complex sentences with big words. If you are able to drive home your points without using complex sentences, people will be much more receptive to the things you have to say. Unless you are highly skilled, avoid the use of complex sentences.

A Failure to Speak Carefully
This is a mistake that gets a lot of people in trouble. They speak without taking the time to think carefully about the words that come out of their mouth. Not only can this cause your audience to become confused, it may also cause them to become offended if you say the wrong things.

To be careful when you speak, you should not speak too slowly, but you should definitely avoid speaking to quickly.

7 Things To Improve Your English.......

English is very easy to learn .All you need to do is train yourself to speak English as comfortably as you speak your mother tongue. You need certain practice in your daily life. Here are some tips to follow:
1. Make friendship.
Find out a friend who also wants to improve his or her English and have lunch or dinner with them. Make it a habit and utilize the whole time for communicating in English. Introduce penalties if this rule is broken. Of course this will help you to improve your listening and speaking skill. If you don't have enough time to go out and meet people at least you can chat a little by telephone. Play games printed in English which require some knowledge of English Monopoly, Scrabble, Life, Dictionary, etc.Before starting, come up with a repertoire of basic commands for playing, and encourage the other players to speak only English. If you do like this no doubt you can improve your English speaking skill, what you want to do is keep on practicing it.

2. Read English books like comics, magazine, entertainment
Comics are always full of idiomatic language and are very easy to understand, but some are very difficult to understand the jokes and dialogue. So try to choose comics carefully. Usually, serious or adventure comics are easier to understand than funny ones. Which one you feel more comfortable buys them and read. Magazines also useful to improve language and get knowledge. I f you can read two versions of the same magazine for example, Newsweek in your language and in English, that will help you to understand easily.

3. Read a translation into English.
Choose a book that was originally translated into English, preferably from your own language. Even if you haven't read the book in your own language, you will find the English is written in a slightly simplified way that is more similar to how your own language is written than a book originally written in English would be. This will be easy for you to understand and learn that language

4. Watch films in your language with English subtitles.
If you find English films with English subtitles too difficult or you, watch films in your language. This is a best option to understand learn English. Local films with English subtitles can also help you to attain good English language.

5. Watch the same film or TV episode over and over again.
You can learn the language without having to study it. Some comedies can also get funnier the more you watch them, especially if you watch them with no subtitles and so understand a little more each time you watch it.

6.Learn and use the phonemic script
There are many sounds in English; if you learn phonetics you can understand these words. By learning the phonemic script you can improve your pronunciation and you will get the idea how to pronounce. It can also make things easier for you by stopping you trying to pronounce different spellings of the same pronunciation different ways.

7. Read a book with lots of dialogue
Dialogue is also much easier to understand than descriptive parts of a book, and is much more like the language you will want to learn in order to be able to speak English.

10 Tips to speak Correct English

1. Observe the mouth movements of those who speak English well and try to imitate them.
When you are watching television, observe the mouth movements of the speakers. Repeat what they are saying, while imitating the intonation and rhythm of their speech.

2. Until you learn the correct intonation and rhythm of English, slow your speech down.
If you speak too quickly, and with the wrong intonation and rhythm, native speakers will have a hard time understanding you.
Don't worry about your listener getting impatient with your slow speech -- it is more important that everything you say be understood.

3. Listen to the 'music' of English.
Do not use the 'music' of your native language when you speak English. Each language has its own way of 'singing'.

4. Use the dictionary.
Try and familiarise yourself with the phonetic symbols of your dictionary. Look up the correct pronunciation of words that are hard for you to say.

5. Prepare a list of frequently used words.
Make a list of frequently used words that you find difficult to pronounce and ask someone who speaks the language well to pronounce them for you.Record these words, listen to them and practice saying them. Listen and read at the same time.

6. Buy books on tape.
Record yourself reading some sections of the book. Compare the sound of your English with that of the person reading the book on the tape.

7. Pronounce the ending of each word.
Pay special attention to 'S' and 'ED' endings. This will help you strengthen the mouth muscles that you use when you speak English.

8. Read aloud in English for 15-20 minutes every day.
Research has shown it takes about three months of daily practice to develop strong mouth muscles for speaking a new language.

9. Record your own voice and listen for pronunciation mistakes.
Many people hate to hear the sound of their voice and avoid listening to themselves speak. However, this is a very important exercise because doing it will help you become conscious of the mistakes you are making.

10. Be patient.
You can change the way you speak but it won't happen overnight. People often expect instant results and give up too soon. You can change the way you sound if you are willing to put some effort into it
