5 Apps That Help Improve Memory and Overall Cognition

Just as the human body’s functions begin to slow as we get older, our mental processes decline in a similar fashion. Imagine that!
It’s something we see every day in our daily routines. Where’d I leave my keys? When is that conference? What’s that word…? But, like with any other muscle in the human body, a little exercise, repetition and practice, can improve those mental processes that are starting to slack.
Brain training is no longer a chore with these five apps (listed in no particular order).
1.Brain TraineriOS
Brain Trainer is one of the most popular mobile brain trainers around for the iPhone and iPad (it looks really good on the iPad). It features 10 different games designed to improve your cognitive abilities, including memory, processing speed, attention, mental flexibility, and problem solving. It takes just a few minutes each day to complete a session, with 35 total sessions. All you need to do is complete one session per day to make your way to better overall brain health.
2.Portrait Health Brain Teasers – iOS
Portable Health Brain Teasers by Healthy Life Labs tests you in five areas: word skills, critical thinking, memory, visual perception and coordination. This app rolls out new updates regularly, so when you get through the initial tests, you can continue to turn that brain age around.
3.Memory TrainerAndroid

Memory Trainer is one of the most popular and effective brain training apps on the Android market. After T-Mobile dropped the Samsung Galaxy S3 and I picked mine up, I downloaded this one immediately. With fun exercises, this app works out your spatial and working memory, focus, chunking and concentration skills. It also boasts “N-back,” which is a continuous performance task that has been proven to increase fluid intelligence.
4.Brain WorkoutAndroid
Brain Workout has the most colorful interface of any of the apps on this list, bringing back memories of similar games that were popular when we were children. But don’t let that fool you – This app has four games that are sure to sharpen your brain, tracking your memory, concentration, reaction and accuracy abilities.
5.BrainscapeiOS
Brainscape is unique in that it’s not a series of games that help improve cognition and memory. It helps users learn specific subject matter, optimizing their study time, and it’s not only on the web. Brainscape has a mobile app that reflects the same education platform used on the web, helping users learn any subject as efficiently as possible. I could have used this for my GRE Vocabulary test… And, as you’ve come to expect from Brainscape, it’s based on solid cognitive science.
So, go! Become the sharpest tool in the shed!

GIPL(Gujarat Info Petro Limited) develops smartphone-based surveillance tool

State-run Gujarat Info Petro Limited (GIPL) has developed an unique software based system for smartphone enabled surveillance and tracking, finding diverse applications in sectors like forest and agriculture.

This system will be of great help in conservation of endangered spices of Asiatic lions (in Gir) and other flora- fauna found in forests of Gujarat.

"We have developed an unique MIS system on GIS base for surveillance and tracking. It can be run on a Windows operated mobile phone to identify exact location of the trouble prone areas in dense forests," GIPL CEO Vijay Sharma said.

"The system which updates the server over the air (OTR), eradicates the need for physical filing of data on a computer, and can also conduct digital surveys of the agricultural fields," he said.

Management Information System (MIS), till now has been confined to laptop and desktop usage. It is widely used by the industry as a ERP solution, for effectively managing the organisations.

Superimposing, MIS data on Geographic Information System (GIS), for quick referencing had been a challenge so far for the ICT sector.

"A forest beat guard armed with such a software driven mobile phone can help check acts of poaching, fire, tree cutting, encroachments on forest land, by clicking a picture of the site and sending it through SMS to the server," he said.

"The moment a picture (with the location, longitude and latitude) lands on the server an alert is generated to the concerned person and rescue teams can be rushed to the exact spot in very short time," Sharma said, explaining how the system operates.

"Using the GPS feature the location of forest beat guard can also be tracked, through PDA (smart phone) based mobile surveillance system, so that the forest department can keep an eye on whether they are performing their duties or not," Sharma said.

GIPL, is a wholly owned subsidiary of the state run Gujarat State Petroleum Corportation (GSPC). The company has developed the technology for Gujarat Forest Department.

English Mistakes Could wreck your chances of getting a JOB

Using improper English during a job interview will cause you not to get the job. If you are giving a speech, using improper English will make your audience think you're unintelligent. If you submit a written proposal to your superiors, and it is written with improper English, it may very likely be rejected. As you can see, failure is not an option.

Common English mistakes that can destroy your chances of career advancement. The first of these mistakes is pronouncing words incorrectly. While this mistake may sound easy to avoid, it is one of the most common mistakes that people make. To become a master at English, it is not enough for you to know a word, or understand its definition. One of the best ways to correct this issue is to break the word down into its syllables, and pronounce it accordingly.

The Use of Slang Terms
One of the biggest English mistakes you can make is using slang words. Those who use these words are often seen as being unintelligent.

Many people try to sound sophisticated by speaking with complex sentences. This can be extremely risky.

With English, you can be simple, but sophisticated at the same time. Being sophisticated with English does not automatically mean you should use complex sentences with big words. If you are able to drive home your points without using complex sentences, people will be much more receptive to the things you have to say. Unless you are highly skilled, avoid the use of complex sentences.

A Failure to Speak Carefully
This is a mistake that gets a lot of people in trouble. They speak without taking the time to think carefully about the words that come out of their mouth. Not only can this cause your audience to become confused, it may also cause them to become offended if you say the wrong things.

To be careful when you speak, you should not speak too slowly, but you should definitely avoid speaking to quickly.

Everyone who listens to you must be able to understand what you are saying. To do this, you must become a master at choosing your words carefully.

Conclusion
These are the basic mistakes that people make when they speak. Learning how to avoid this mistakes can allow you to become advanced in English, and you can reach anyone who listens to you.

7 Things To Improve Your English.......

English is very easy to learn .All you need to do is train yourself to speak English as comfortably as you speak your mother tongue. You need certain practice in your daily life. Here are some tips to follow:
1. Make friendship.
Find out a friend who also wants to improve his or her English and have lunch or dinner with them. Make it a habit and utilize the whole time for communicating in English. Introduce penalties if this rule is broken. Of course this will help you to improve your listening and speaking skill. If you don't have enough time to go out and meet people at least you can chat a little by telephone. Play games printed in English which require some knowledge of English Monopoly, Scrabble, Life, Dictionary, etc. Before starting, come up with a repertoire of basic commands for playing, and encourage the other players to speak only English. If you do like this no doubt you can improve your English speaking skill, what you want to do is keep on practicing it.

2. Read English books like comics, magazine, entertainment
Comics are always full of idiomatic language and are very easy to understand, but some are very difficult to understand the jokes and dialogue. So try to choose comics carefully. Usually, serious or adventure comics are easier to understand than funny ones. Which one you feel more comfortable buys them and read. Magazines also useful to improve language and get knowledge. I f you can read two versions of the same magazine for example, Newsweek in your language and in English, that will help you to understand easily.

3. Read a translation into English.
Choose a book that was originally translated into English, preferably from your own language. Even if you haven't read the book in your own language, you will find the English is written in a slightly simplified way that is more similar to how your own language is written than a book originally written in English would be. This will be easy for you to understand and learn that language

4. Watch films in your language with English subtitles.
If you find English films with English subtitles too difficult or you, watch films in your language. This is a best option to understand learn English. Local films with English subtitles can also help you to attain good English language.

5. Watch the same film or TV episode over and over again.
You can learn the language without having to study it. Some comedies can also get funnier the more you watch them, especially if you watch them with no subtitles and so understand a little more each time you watch it.

6.Learn and use the phonemic script
There are many sounds in English; if you learn phonetics you can understand these words. By learning the phonemic script you can improve your pronunciation and you will get the idea how to pronounce. It can also make things easier for you by stopping you trying to pronounce different spellings of the same pronunciation different ways.

7. Read a book with lots of dialogue
Dialogue is also much easier to understand than descriptive parts of a book, and is much more like the language you will want to learn in order to be able to speak English.

Top 10 Qualities of an Excellent Manager

1. Creativity
Creativity is what separates competence from excellence. Creativity is the spark that propels projects forward and that captures peoples' attention. Creativity is the ingredient that pulls the different pieces together into a cohesive whole, adding zest and appeal in the process.

2. Structure
The context and structure we work within always have a set of parameters, limitations and guidelines. A stellar manager knows how to work within the structure and not let the structure impinge upon the process or the project. Know the structure intimately, so as to guide others to effectively work within the given parameters. Do this to expand beyond the boundaries.

3. Intuition
Intuition is the capacity of knowing without the use of rational processes; it's the cornerstone of emotional intelligence. People with keen insight are often able to sense what others are feeling and thinking; consequently, they're able to respond perfectly to another through their *deeper understanding. * The stronger one's intuition, the stronger manager one will be.

4. Knowledge
A thorough knowledge base is essential. The knowledge base must be so ingrained and integrated into their being that they become *transparent, * focusing on the employee and what s/he needs to learn, versus focusing on the knowledge base. The excellent manager lives from a knowledge base, without having to draw attention to it.

5. Commitment
A manager is committed to the success of the project and of all team members. S/he holds the vision for the collective team and moves the team closer to the end result. It's the manager's commitment that pulls the team forward during trying times.

6. Being Human
Employees value leaders who are human and who don't hide behind their authority. The best leaders are those who aren't afraid to be themselves. Managers who respect and connect with others on a human level inspire great loyalty.

7. Versatility
Flexibility and versatility are valuable qualities in a manager. Beneath the flexibility and versatility is an ability to be both non-reactive and not attached to how things have to be. Versatility implies an openness * this openness allows the leader to quickly *change on a dime* when necessary. Flexibility and versatility are the pathways to speedy responsiveness.

8. Lightness
A stellar manager doesn't just produce outstanding results; s/he has fun in the process! Lightness doesn't impede results but rather, helps to move the team forward. Lightness complements the seriousness of the task at hand as well as the resolve of the team, therefore contributing to strong team results and retention.

9. Discipline/Focus
Discipline is the ability to choose and live from what one pays attention to. Discipline as self-mastery can be exhilarating! Role model the ability to live from your intention consistently and you'll role model an important leadership quality.

10. Big Picture, Small Actions
Excellent managers see the big picture concurrent with managing the details. Small actions lead to the big picture; the excellent manager is skillful at doing both: think big while also paying attention to the details.

10 Tips to speak Correct English

1. Observe the mouth movements of those who speak English well and try to imitate them.
When you are watching television, observe the mouth movements of the speakers. Repeat what they are saying, while imitating the intonation and rhythm of their speech.

2. Until you learn the correct intonation and rhythm of English, slow your speech down.
If you speak too quickly, and with the wrong intonation and rhythm, native speakers will have a hard time understanding you.
Don't worry about your listener getting impatient with your slow speech -- it is more important that everything you say be understood.

3. Listen to the 'music' of English.
Do not use the 'music' of your native language when you speak English. Each language has its own way of 'singing'.

4. Use the dictionary.
Try and familiarise yourself with the phonetic symbols of your dictionary. Look up the correct pronunciation of words that are hard for you to say.

5. Prepare a list of frequently used words.
Make a list of frequently used words that you find difficult to pronounce and ask someone who speaks the language well to pronounce them for you.Record these words, listen to them and practice saying them. Listen and read at the same time.

6. Buy books on tape.
Record yourself reading some sections of the book. Compare the sound of your English with that of the person reading the book on the tape.

7. Pronounce the ending of each word.
Pay special attention to 'S' and 'ED' endings. This will help you strengthen the mouth muscles that you use when you speak English.

8. Read aloud in English for 15-20 minutes every day.
Research has shown it takes about three months of daily practice to develop strong mouth muscles for speaking a new language.

9. Record your own voice and listen for pronunciation mistakes.
Many people hate to hear the sound of their voice and avoid listening to themselves speak. However, this is a very important exercise because doing it will help you become conscious of the mistakes you are making.

10. Be patient.
You can change the way you speak but it won't happen overnight. People often expect instant results and give up too soon. You can change the way you sound if you are willing to put some effort into it

Do Not ...

Do not undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others.
It is because we are different that each of us is special.

Do not set your goals by what other people deem important.
Only you know what is best for you..

Do not let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past nor for the future.
By living your life one day at a time, you live all the days of your life.

Do not give up when you still have something to give.
Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.
It is a fragile thread that binds us to each other....

Do not be afraid to encounter risks.
It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave.

Do not shut love out of your life by saying it is impossible to find.
The quickest way to receive love is to give love; the fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly.

Do not dismiss your dreams.
To be without dreams is to be without hope; to be without hope is to be without purpose.
Do not run through life so fast that you forget not only where you have been, but also where you are going.

Life is not a race, but a journey to be savored each step of the way.

Have a wonderful day.
