Soon, a smart phone application could be used for improving facilities for pedestrians in your neighborhood and make streets safer. Part of NGO, clean air initiative (CAI) for Asian cities, the awareness tool would analyze data collected from nine Indian cities, including Indore. "A walkability app that would enable a citizen to do a quick walkability assessment of a street is on the cards," said CAI Asia country representative Parthaa Bosu. The application would enable users to report problem on a footpath (or the lack of one), neighborhood street, open manholes, fear of unsocial elements or rise in fatal accidents in particular street corner. The complaint in form of an issue raised would be posted on a social networking site. Alongside the collected data would analyzed and complaints be raised with the relevant departments. Once installed on a mobile through the 'walkability' app, it would enable citizens to highlight issues in their neighborhood by simply clicking pictures and uploading them online through the application.
