50% Mobile towers are illegal in Delhi as per MCD

Last year, the three corporations had gone on a sealing drive against all illegal towers in their jurisdiction, which resulted in massive disruption in connectivity.
There are 8,407 mobile towers across the city under the jurisdiction of the three civic bodies of which more than 50% - 4,668 towers - are illegal. With the revised policy in place, all these illegal towers will be regularised. Till date, the east corporation has sealed 543 towers, south corporation more than 300 towers and north corporation 127 towers.
The proposal for a revised one-time installation charge will be put up in the standing committee and the report will be submitted in court. A meeting on the matter was held with all stakeholders under the chairmanship of north corporation commissioner, and a draft revised policy was made incorporating the observations made by COAI. The minutes of the meeting stated, "After detailed deliberations, it has been decided that the draft revised policy be placed by the three corporations and after subsequent approval of these corporations, a unified stand be placed before the high court on the next hearing."
Senior officials said since the matter was in court for five years, the corporations didn't get any installation fee from telecom companies during this period.
Under the agreement, telecom companies will be charged a five-year fee of Rs 2 lakh per tower.
The one-time installation charge was hiked from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh by the erstwhile municipal corporation in 2010, which prompted the telecom companies to move court. The case has been pending since then and thousands of illegal towers have come up across the city.
In the high court, telecom firms had blamed the frequent call drops on the corporations' drive to seal cellular towers. The court had ordered the two parties to resolve their dispute through mediation.

World's First Wi-Fi Router That Does 40 Gbps Even From 1 Km Distance

KIT, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Wi-Fi router, fastest, 240 GHzWith so many data hungry websites (and apps) surrounding us all through the day, a slow Internet connection is a bummer of sorts. Especially, if your wireless router does not allow you enough freedom to move and still have the same impact. So hold your breath as we tell you about a Wi-Fi router that can send a complete 2 hour full HD movie over a kilometre in less than a second! Don’t believe us? Well, researchers at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany have managed exactly that.

The hardware used to transmit the data at 240 GHz was created by KIT and has a set of chips that is capable of sending high frequency signals. In this case, the higher the frequency, the smaller the antenna size to pick up the frequencies, which means faster transfer of data. “The number of bits carried over the airwaves is in inverse proportion to that of the wavelength. This means, the shorter the wavelength, the more data can be transferred in a set period of time,” reports the official site of the Institute.

While the speed of a few MBs per second is becoming pretty common, at higher frequency, the moisture levels in the air affect the signal strength. Working on the issue, the research team realised that 240 GHz is the spot where interference from moisture is the least. “The frequency range between 200-280 GHz allows compact technical assembly as well. At 240 GHz, the size of the transmitter/receiver chip measures only 4 x 1.5 sq.mm,” Crazy Engineer reported

This can be a revolutionary breakthrough for areas where fibre optics is not an option and can even bring down the cost considerably.

Winning Interviews

The on-campus interview lets you meet recruiters with job openings. If you want to make the most of this opportunity, you need a focus, to know of what the employer wants, to prepare the information you wish to share and to execute a winning game plan that sells your successes pertaining to the job opening.

Focus

Perhaps your interviewer has been asked to identify three graduates interested in field test engineering positions that need to be filled. He asks you what type of work you'd like to do after graduation. Clearly, he wants to know if you would enjoy and feel comfortable starting your career as a field test engineer. You reply that you're just seeking an entry-level position. This response suggests a lack of focus and the key issue, where you'd like to start your professional career, has not been addressed.

Always have a focused job objective prior to any interview. It's best if it's closely related to your background and the job opening.

Sharpen your focus by answering the following:

  • What do you like most?
  • What do you do best?
  • What gives you personal satisfaction?

What the Employer Wants

When you understand what the interviewer wants to know about you, you can effectively address the information sought. Interviewers may want to know such things as:

  • What do you want to do?
  • What in your background indicates you're prepared for it?
  • Are you an effective communicator?
  • Are you good at teamwork?

Your objective is to make a good first impression: a firm handshake, good eye contact, confident body language, comfort in answering questions and knowing your career's initial direction. Physical attributes will also influence the interviewer's opinion of you. Nontraditional interview attire, nontraditional hair color, tattoos, body piercings, etc., also contribute to first impressions.

Prepare Information for Your Interview

Knowing what you want to do as you start your career, connecting past successes relating to the job opening and selling them in your interview will impress the interviewer and identify you as the best candidate. Your GPA is important, but providing evidence of skills, experience and capabilities will separate you from the others. Be prepared to prove your:

  • Ability to work in teams and meet commitments.
  • Experience with conflict resolution.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good work ethic.
  • Decision-making skills and ability to set priorities.
  • Integrity.
  • Practical experience.

Be sure to develop a list of past successes relating to these areas. They may include past projects, participation in student organizations, membership in professional societies, leadership examples, teaming activities, work experience (as a co-op or intern), participation in conferences or open houses and any out-of-class experiences that relate to business practice. Organize your successes having to do with your academic background, related experience, technical interests, leadership, career goals, interest in the company and communication.

It's also a good idea to prepare questions that will help you decide if the opportunity is a good fit. Questions related to typical work assignments, the corporate culture, growth potential, team structure, new technologies, new products and travel may help you with the decision process.

Executing Your Winning Game Plan

Now that you're focused, know what the interviewer wants and have identified your successes relevant to the job opening, you are ready to execute your game plan and sell those successes. Try using the STAR method to get you on your way:

  • S: Describe the situation pertaining to the topic of discussion or the interviewer's query.
  • T: Explain the technique you used, your approach.
  • A: Emphasize the action you took to solve the situation.
  • R: Close with the result or outcome of the action taken.

RFC 4330:Simple Network Time Protocol (SNTP) Version 4 for IPv4, IPv6 and OSI

 SNTP PDF
Simple Network Time Protocol (SNTP) Version 4 for IPv4, IPv6 and OSI

This memorandum describes the Simple Network Time Protocol Version 4 (SNTPv4), which is a subset of the Network Time Protocol (NTP) used to synchronize computer clocks in the Internet. SNTPv4 can be used when the ultimate performance of a full NTP implementation based on RFC 1305 is neither needed nor justified. When operating with current and previous NTP and SNTP versions, SNTPv4 requires no
changes to the specifications or known implementations, but rather clarifies certain design features that allow operation in a simple, stateless remote-procedure call (RPC) mode with accuracy and reliability expectations similar to the UDP/TIME protocol described in RFC 868.

This memorandum obsoletes RFC 1769, which describes SNTP Version 3 (SNTPv3), and RFC 2030, which describes SNTPv4. Its purpose is to correct certain inconsistencies in the previous documents and to
clarify header formats and protocol operations for NTPv3 (IPv4) and SNTPv4 (IPv4, IPv6, and OSI), which are also used for SNTP. A further purpose is to provide guidance for home and business client
implementations for routers and other consumer devices to protect the server population from abuse. A working knowledge of the NTPv3 specification, RFC 1305, is not required for an implementation of
SNTP.

Wi-Fi Chargers

Have you ever wondered, charging your portable devices like your laptops, iPods and your smart phones etc without ever plugging them? If not then, RCA has made this possible by introducing AirPower chargers to overcome this menace.

The idea behind this mysterious charging system is to absorb power from the Wifi signals. With Wifi signals available almost every where, markets, offices and even on airplanes, RCA has come with certainly an innovative idea.  The process involves absorbing a Wifi signal and reiterating the 2.4 GHz signal, transforming it into an energy source. After exposure of Airpower to a perpetual Wifi signal, it will be able to charge up your devices in the similar manner as you charge from an AC connection.
These flip phone sized devices are yet to be available in the market. It is also expected that future devices can incorporate built-in AirPower charging, enabling people to charge their phones automatically exposing it to any Wifi signal. These latest gadgets surely are a best option for travelers and business man, where they can get their devices charged without fretting about the cable issues.
With the use of mobile device mounting briskly this wireless charging technology, provides a unique and innovative option at the expense of ubiquitous Wifi signals.

ITU-T G.825

ITU-T  G.825 pdf

The scope of this ITU-T Recommendation is to define the parameters and the relevant values that are able to control satisfactorily the amount of jitter and wander present at the SDH network-network interfaces (NNI).
SDH network interfaces, to which this ITU-T Recommendation is applicable, are defined in terms of bit rates and frame structures in ITU-T Recommendation G.707; their electrical characteristics are described in ITU-T Recommendation G.703 and the optical characteristics in ITU-T Recommendations G.957 and G.691.
Additional information regarding the architecture of SDH networks is found in ITU-T Recommendation G.803.
Jitter and wander requirements for PDH and synchronization networks are specified in ITU-T Recommendation G.823, for networks based on the first level bit rate of 2048 kbit/s, and in ITU-T
Recommendation G.824 for networks based on the first-level bit rate of 1544 kbit/s.

The jitter and wander control philosophy is based on the need:
–- to recommend a maximum network limit that should not be exceeded at any relevant
interface;
– -to recommend a consistent framework for the specification of individual digital equipment
(i.e. jitter and wander transfer, tolerance and generation requirements);
–- to provide sufficient information and guidelines for organizations to measure and study jitter
and wander accumulation in any network configuration.

ITU-T G.813

ITU-T G.813 pdf

This Recommendation outlines requirements for timing devices used in synchronizing network
equipment that operate according to the principles governed by the Synchronous Digital Hierarchy
(SDH). These requirements apply under the normal environmental conditions specified for the SDH
equipment. In normal operation, SDH equipment contains a slave clock traceable to a primary
reference clock. In general, the SDH equipment clock (SEC) will have multiple reference inputs. In
the event that all links between the master and the slave clock fail, the equipment should be capable
of maintaining operation (holdover) within prescribed performance limits.
The SEC is part of the SDH equipment, the functions of which are specified in ITU-T Rec. G.783
as the Synchronous Equipment Timing Source (SETS). Slave clocks used in SDH equipment must
meet specific requirements in order to comply with network jitter requirements for plesiochronous
tributaries.
This Recommendation contains two options for the SEC. The first option, referred to as "Option 1,"
applies to SDH networks optimized for the 2048 kbit/s hierarchy. These networks allow the
worst-case synchronization reference chain as specified in Figure 8-5/G.803. The second option,
referred to as "Option 2," applies to SDH networks optimized for the particular 1544 kbit/s
hierarchy that includes the rates 1544 kbit/s, 6312 kbit/s, and 44 736 kbit/s. The synchronization
reference chain for these networks is defined in Appendix II.
An SDH equipment slave clock should comply with all of the requirements specific to one option
and should not mix requirements between Options 1 and 2. In the clauses where one requirement is
specified, the requirements are common to both options. It is the intention that Options 1 and 2
should be harmonized in the future.
Careful consideration should be taken when interworking between networks with SECs based on
Option 1 and networks with SECs based on Option 2.
This Recommendation defines the minimum requirements for clocks in SDH NEs. However, some
SDH NEs may have a higher quality clock. This Recommendation allows for proper network
operation when a SEC (Option 1 or 2) is timed from another SEC (like option), or a higher quality
clock. Hierarchical timing distribution is recommended for SDH networks. Timing should not be
passed from a SEC in free-run/holdover mode to a higher quality clock since the higher quality
clock should not follow the SEC signal during fault conditions.

Wimax- Smart Grid Applications

With most of the cellular operators inclined towards the deployment and development of LTE, Wimax seems to lose its pace in the 4G race. That does not at all means that we have no Wimax to see in future, in fact it is now thriving with the introduction of Wimax based smart grid applications, machine to machine, public safety and surveillance applications.

Several Wimax smart application projects are underway. General Electric is working on the use of Wimax enabled smart meters, it’s the first ever kind of project in US. Cisco has invested in a Wimax smart application projects with Grid Net and co-partners like Siemens, GE, Accenture, Schneider Electric and Verizon. Alvarion announced its project with National Grid on smart power grid (SPG) using Wimax. Silver Springs Network in Florida provides connectivity to electricity, water and gas meters via Zigbee over a WAN with an IP based network. Microsoft’s SERA (Smart Energy Reference Architecture) is working for the promotion technology in the energy sector in collaboration with Puget Sound Energy, Xcel Energy and Seattle City Light.

According to ABI research investment in smart grid will reach up to $45 billion till 2015. With the rise in consumption of electricity has forced us to come up with feasible alternatives like renewable energy. Some are also in favor of solar energy. Wimax based stations of Intel are solar powered. Telenor is working on solar powered networks. Between 2010 and 2012 Alcatel is expected to install 10,000 based stations working on renewable energy.
Undoubtedly the energy demand will keep on escalating with time and the need for discovering renewable and cost effective energy sources will keep on growing. Wireless smart Grid applications may take time to progress but it presents an efficient electrical distribution mechanism.
