Indian Space Agency ISRO Launched Bhuvan to challenge Google Earth

Indian Space agency ISRO has launched its own satellite mapping service called Bhuvan. For Bhuvan IRS image portal will provide satellite images similar to Google Earth and WikiMapia. But the most important thing is that it will provide more precision and frequent updates, as you already know Google Earth provides single layered images with zoom levels up to 200 meters and the images get updated at 4 year gap.

In Comparison to Google Earth Bhuvan will provide multi-layered images and zoom levels up to 10 meters and images being updated at the gap of 1 year.

Features of Bhuvan:

1. Visualize 2D and 3D image data along with rich thematic information on Soil, wasteland, water resources etc.
2. Fly to locations.
3. Heads-Up Display navigation controls.
4. Navigation using the 3D view Pop-up menu.
5. 3D Fly through.
6. Drawing 2D object.
7. Drawing 3D Objects.
8. Snapshot creation.
9. Measurement tools.
10. Shadow Analysis.

You need to be a registered member on Bhuvan Website in order to download the Bhuvan Browser software. Bhuvan software can be downloaded from the Bhuvan website after registration and you will also need DirectX9 or higher version for installing the software or either use the following link to download it.
