Internet search giant Google revamped its image search engine two days ago in order to make image search experience more quicker and easier than ever. The improved design will allow the user to scroll through 1,000 images at once. Besides this, the text on the image search results will also get eliminated so the user can focus on the visuals.
Previously when a user did an image search, the results showed multiple pages of thumbnails with text showing the file name, dimensions, and a description about the image but from now the image search will show only a mosaic of tightly packed image results with no text and larger thumbnails. Google is also planning to increase the density of its image search results page and it is all set to launch a feature which will allow the users to get a bigger preview of an image but just hovering the mouse icon over an image.Although far more images are now shown on one page, Google has introduced "Instant scrolling" function to make the scrolling easier and faster. Google is also preparing to launch image ads rather than strictly text ads and these ads will be on the top of the page.
"This represents the largest image search engine by far. I have been watching image search grow and grow for the last nine years since its launch in 2001. This is a tremendous rise and shows how the web overall has gotten richer and richer with all kinds of media," said Marissa Mayer, vice president of Google image search.
