One of the main drivers for highly accurate frequency control in digital networks is interworking between
different local, national and international networks. In addition, interworking between different servicebased
networks and their network elements is increasingly important. The rules and procedures that are
necessary to support high-quality timing performance across and between the different networks are the
subjects of many standards documents, controlled by several different standards forums. This course gives
an introduction to the main standards groupings and the relationships between their important
specifications.
