The vOICe system, a technology that lets blind people see their surroundings using sound, is now available in a smartphone app.
The system was created based on research done by scientists who studied the brains of blind people who learned to perceive their world by turning images into soundscapes, according to Wired.
The app is now available on Android and uses the phone's camera to record areas and landscapes. The app helps users learn how to tell which sounds go with which shapes.
