9 Things That Motivate Employees More Than Money

Here are nine things :
  1. Be generous with praise. Everyone wants it and it’s one of the easiest things to give. Plus, praise from the CEO goes a lot farther than you might think. Praise every improvement that you see your team members make. Once you’re comfortable delivering praise one-on-one to an employee, try praising them in front of others.  
  2. Get rid of the managers. Projects without project managers? That doesn’t seem right! Try it. Removing the project lead or supervisor and empowering your staff to work together as a team rather then everyone reporting to one individual can do wonders. Think about it. What’s worse than letting your supervisor down? Letting your team down! Allowing people to work together as a team, on an equal level with their co-workers, will often produce better projects faster. People will come in early, stay late, and devote more of their energy to solving problems.  
  3. Make your ideas theirs. People hate being told what to do. Instead of telling people what you want done; ask them in a way that will make them feel like they came up with the idea. “I’d like you to do it this way” turns into “Do you think it’s a good idea if we do it this way?”  
  4. Never criticize or correct. No one, and I mean no one, wants to hear that they did something wrong. If you’re looking for a de-motivator, this is it. Try an indirect approach to get people to improve, learn from their mistakes, and fix them. Ask, “Was that the best way to approach the problem? Why not? Have any ideas on what you could have done differently?” Then you’re having a conversation and talking through solutions, not pointing a finger.  
  5. Make everyone a leader. Highlight your top performers’ strengths and let them know that because of their excellence, you want them to be the example for others. You’ll set the bar high and they’ll be motivated to live up to their reputation as a leader.  
  6. Take an employee to lunch once a week. Surprise them. Don’t make an announcement that you’re establishing a new policy. Literally walk up to one of your employees, and invite them to lunch with you. It’s an easy way to remind them that you notice and appreciate their work.  
  7. Give recognition and small rewards. These two things come in many forms: Give a shout out to someone in a company meeting for what she has accomplished. Run contests or internal games and keep track of the results on a whiteboard that everyone can see. Tangible awards that don’t break the bank can work too. Try things like dinner, trophies, spa services, and plaques. 
  8. Throw company parties. Doing things as a group can go a long way. Have a company picnic. Organize birthday parties. Hold a happy hour. Don’t just wait until the holidays to do a company activity; organize events throughout the year to remind your staff that you’re all in it together. 
  9. Share the rewards—and the pain. When your company does well, celebrate. This is the best time to let everyone know that you’re thankful for their hard work. Go out of your way to show how far you will go when people help your company succeed. If there are disappointments, share those too. If you expect high performance, your team deserves to know where the company stands. Be honest and transparent.

Solution Architect in the nerve centre of the SI delivery that owns the SI solution end – to – end and architects a detailed solution design document. This document is used by the Solution Integrators to deliver the solution to meet the customer requirements and developers to meet the customer specific adaptations.
This Solution Architect needs to have breadth of the solution domain. He shall also identify scope creeps and document the same during the project. He shall also be the Solution Life Cycle Manager of implemented solution.
This role demands positive mind-set, system design, development and hands on delivery experience in respective areas of expertise mentioned in Section 11 with a perspective of blending Telecom practices with the IT with an end-to end approach to solutions.
8 Responsibilities
• Understand technical requirements (GR’s) of a contracted SI solution and engage customer to have overall agreement on the proposed solution.
• Owns the technical solution during the project phase.
• Do a feasibility study of the solution with customer meetings and matching customer requirements with contracted solution.
• Leading or supporting role in customer meetings and workshops to agree on the Requirement Specification, Solution Design, Detailed Design and Implementation Proposal, interfacing with internal product units and 3PP providers as well as producing the Project Design documentation.
• During the Solution Development, the SI Solution Architect is supposed to have a leading role in the Customer Adaptation and Product Customization definition process, in the interface and functionality agreements with 3PP and the setting up of local coding capabilities to enable a developed solution according to Customers Specification ready for Integration and Testing.
• Support the Project Managers by drilling down the solution into activities and providing effort estimates to make project budget.
• Responsible for assigning activities & review delivery progress with the Solution Integrators.
• Interface and communicate with customer about project technical deliverables till acceptance and handover to ELS.
• Act as Solution Life Cycle Manager of implemented solution.
• Proactive competence development of self in new solution areas in the domain & certification.
• Ready to learn, transfer competence from other competent resources and take forward the solution in project phase.
• Ensure strict SI delivery as per contracted scope with proper change management.

Overall responsibility for the RF / RAN operations on the circle level and
co-ordination with NNOC for day-to-day to operational issues and

• Responsible for updating the centralized database for site configuration.

• Experience in RF Optimization using drive & Performance data.
• Knowledge about CDMA & RF Metrics & Parameters.

The RF Lead should be able to

how more serious issues and risks might impact operations from quality and
cost perspectives.
• Identify where and when management of issues and risks or
accommodating altered requirements will involve extra time or extra resources
and where efficiencies can be made.

Communication Skills
The RF Lead

• Should be able to articulate and negotiate consensus with his team
members on a final vision for efficient circle operations.
• Must be courteous in written and oral communication, and be able to get
ideas across in a non-confrontational manner in one-to-one situations, small
groups, and before large audiences.


Team Management Skills
The RF Lead

• May work directly with the team members or with their team leaders to
estimate effort, plan activities and negotiate consensus among individual
team members on their appointed tasks.
• Should have Vendor Management Skills
• Should be able to create and use Gantt charts, spreadsheets or other
appropriate tools to manage people and tasks and keep up-to-date.
• Should be experienced in providing a team with direction and vision,

The RF Lead

Detailed Job description
The RF Lead has the authority to run the day-to-day operations. The RF Lead should have sufficient latitude to exercise a wide degree of creativity in performing this role.

Technical Skills
The RF Lead is overall responsible for

• Responsible for RAN related Key Performance Indicators as set by Network Quality
• Helping Customer in the preparation of SACFA
• Ensure that there is sound and scalable “cook-book” designs for each of the circle teams to implement.
• Manage & Lead teams for achieving end objectives with in time / cost constraints.
• Plan / Schedule Drive tests & Routes in consultation with customer.
• Consistency in design and methodology across all circle teams
• Key interface with Site Acquisition team
• Generation of all management reports – internal and external
• Responsible for updating the centralized database for site configuration.
• Working level knowledge about MS access / MS excel.
• Experience with Site surveys and Search ring process.
• Experienced with CW survey and Propagation techniques/ modeling.
• Experience in RF Optimization using drive & Performance data.
• Knowledge about CDMA & RF Metrics & Parameters.
• Experience in managing & implementing Inbuilding solutions / repeaters
• Knowledge about Tools like Agilent Nitro, Wizard, TEMS.
• Knowledge about CDMA / GSM Air interface signaling.
• Knowledge about over all network architecture and call flow.
• Familiar with Traffic trending & performance trending.

Planning Skills
The RF Lead should be able to
• Anticipate and identify deviations and keep all participants and stakeholders informed.
• Identify, log, analyse and manage potential and actual issues and risks, taking corrective action by tackling day-to-day issues head on and reviewing how more serious issues and risks might impact operations from quality and cost perspectives.
• Identify where and when management of issues and risks or accommodating altered requirements will involve extra time or extra resources and where efficiencies can be made.

Communication Skills
The RF Lead

• Should be able to articulate and negotiate consensus with his team members on a final vision for efficient circle operations.
• Must be courteous in written and oral communication, and be able to get ideas across in a non-confrontational manner in one-to-one situations, small groups, and before large audiences.


Team Management Skills
The RF Lead

• May work directly with the team members or with their team leaders to estimate effort, plan activities and negotiate consensus among individual team members on their appointed tasks.
• Should have Vendor Management Skills
• Should be able to create and use Gantt charts, spreadsheets or other appropriate tools to manage people and tasks and keep up-to-date.
• Should be experienced in providing a team with direction and vision, including motivating people to perform, listening to people, providing feedback, recognising strengths and providing challenges.



Technical and Quality Tasks
The RF Lead

• Without necessarily being an expert, should make an effort to understand the technology being used in order to understand and question requests coming from specialists and technical staff and to evaluate what is reasonable or possible.
• Must have an understanding of relevant methodologies, processes and standards and ensures that all team members understand and follow these also.
• Is responsible for commitment to quality – also referred to as fitness for purpose or specification level, and may need to call on specialists to assist in creating or assessing quality standards.


Organising Tasks
The RF Lead
• May need to generate many types of document, including requirement specifications, schedules, communication (email) records, meeting agendas, minutes and status reports.
• May need to create a structure for project documentation and remain conscientious in using it and ensuring that the rest of the team understands and uses it.
• May need to create a structure for Circle Assets upkeep and remain conscientious in using it and ensuring that the rest of the team follows it.

POSITION SUMMARY
