Smartphone app encourages self-exams for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Image via WikipediaOctober is National Breast Cancer Awareness month, and with the new focus on mobile apps, what better way to remind women to do a self-exam than to have a handsome fellow pop up on their smartphone.

That's the premise behind "Your Man Reminder," a smartphone app coming soon from the Canadian organization Rethink Breast Cancer.
Women can select the man of their dreams to remind them to perform a breast self- exam. They can select from among six choices, including the "boy next door," the "sports jock" and the "business man." Among the apps features:

• Customization – Update the App to fit your personal liking, with features that let you chose your man, his pose and more.
• Hot Messages - You'll love the attention your man gives to you, with messages like "Any guy would be lucky to have you" and "Give your breasts some TLC." (Touch, Look, Check)
• Reminders - Tailor your calendar schedule with settings for weekly, monthly or surprise reminders directed by a sexy man of your choice.
• Education - The App includes a special "signs and symptoms" tab to hone in on the importance of early detection.
• Get Checked - Use a variety of scheduling options such as doctors' appointments and many more.

Additionally, Your Man Reminder has a way to share on Facebook. That way, users can share with their friends whenever they decide to take their breast exams into their own hands.
The app will be free on both iOS and Android, and although we can't find it in either market at the time of this writing, it's slated to be delivered in time for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
