I believe it works like this: Yogasanas activate the energies that have accumulated and stagnated in the energy pockets of your body and since left inert, these energies create various ailments. Pranayama, or Yogic breathing exercises cleanse your body, mind and consciousness by venting toxins from the body. Then there are Yogic kriyas, cleansing techniques that rid the body of free radicals.
Yoga, I’ve found, also succeeds in integrating all aspects of action, wisdom, and peace into one. It aims at integration on three levels: Psychic integration, of the various facets of the self; Cosmic integration, of the aspects of the universe; and Existential integration that comes only when one fully realizes that the Self and the universe are one.
Believe it or not, Yoga can actually help reduce pain by helping your brain regulate the secretion of natural painkillers into the body?
